NASHVILLE,
Tenn. - The Trevecca (4-0) defeated Free Will Baptist (0-4) 89-61 on
Tuesday and now lead the series with the Flames 5-0.
With
the game tied at four Trevecca used an 8-0 run to take a 12-4 lead.
After a Flame basket the Trojans produced an 11-0 run to take a 23-6
advantage at teh 11:04 mark of the first half. The Flames scores the
next six points to make it a 23-12 game, but the cross-town Flames
wouldn't get that close again. Trevecca led 45-25 at the half.
The
Flamed came out of half time with a run that pulled them to within 14
points on a couple of occassions. Kevin Murray hit a three-pointer for
Free Will at the 15:52 mark of the second half and the Trojans lead was
just 14 (51-37). Trevecca outscored Free Will 25-7 over the next six
minutes to take their largest lead of the game at 76-44. Trevecca would
end up with the 89-61 victory.
Freshmen
Marquise Rudolph led Trevecca with 18 points and added six assists.
Rudolph hit 7-of-10 from the field and all three of his three-point
attempts. Matthew Elliott added 16 points and hit 4-of-7 from beyond
the three-point arch. Elliott also added six rebounds, five assists,
and a steal. JP Nyadaro led the team with 10 rebounds while Jeremy
Dixon had nine rebounds. Keith Morris scored 13 for TNU.
As
a team Trevecca hit 37-of-69 (53%) from the field, 11-of-23 (48%) from
three-point range, and hit just 4-of-12 from the foul line. TNU
outrebounded FWBC 54-33.
Trevecca will travel to Cedarville, Ohio for a pair of games in the 32nd Annual Cedarville Invitational.
Trevecca will play Point Park (1-3) on Friday at 5 p.m. On Saturday
Trevecca will match up against either Rio Grande (3-1) or the host
Cedarville Yellow Jackets (2-2). The Saturday consolation game is at 5
p.m. while the championship game will be at 7 p.m.
