CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Trevecca (5-0) men's basketball team defeated Point Park (3-2) 72-62 in dramatic fashion on Friday in the first game of the 32nd Annual Cedarville Invitational.

Trevecca opened the game with an 8-0 run and led 15-2 at the 15:40 mark of the first half. Point Park outscored the Trojans 8-2 and closed the gap to seven points at 17-10 with 14:16 to go in the half. Trevecca snapped the run with a 21-0 run of their own. Trevecca hit five three-pointers - Kurt Reeves had one while Jeremy Dixon and Peyton Henry hit two each - in the run. Point Park chipped away at the lead and went into the halftime break down 40-23.

In the second half Trevecca pushed the lead back to 19 (46-27) at the 16:57 mark. The Pioneers put on a second half run that saw them take their first lead (56-54) of the game with 6:51 to go. The two-point lead capped a 29-8 run over a 10 minute span. The Pioneers only scored 33 points in the other 30 minutes of play. Point Park led 62-59 with 3:41 to go, but Trevecca closed the game with a final 13-0 run of their own took the win 72-62.

Michael France led Trevecca with 19 points after hitting all three three-point field goal attempts. Also scoring in double-figures were Jeremy Dixon (11) and Keith Morris (10) for Trevecca. Matthew Elliott led the team with six assists and scored nine points and collected six rebounds. Morris joined J.P. Nyardo and Elliott with a team-high six rebounds while blocking two shots. JP Nyadaro also blocked two shots and added two steals.

As a team Trevecca shot 40% (24-59) from the field, 45% (9-20) from three-point range, and 88% (15-17) from the foul line. Trevecca had the advantage in rebounding 45-53.

Trevecca will play NAIA DII #15 Cedarville University (3-2) in the championship game at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Note the time change as the game was originally scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.
