DAHLONEGA, Ga. - NAIA No. 13 Trevecca (5-2) to 84-79 to the host Saints (3-2) at the North Georgia College Chick-fil-a Thanksgiving Classic.


Trevecca jumped out on North Georgia 21-14 at teh 12:19 mark of the first half. Trevecca had trailed 13-12, but following a 9-1 run had taken a seven point lead. With 10:12 to go in the half Trevecca's lead was just four points (23-19), but a 15-2 run put Trevecca up 17 (38-21) with 5:10 to go in the half. Trevecca added three more points to their advantage and led 45-25 at halftime.

The Saints cut into the Trojan advantage a early in the second half, but with 11:40 to go the TNU lead was back to 20 points (64-44) and it looked like the Trojans were on their way to victory No. 6 on the year. The Saints had other idea's and began to whittle away at the 20 point TNU lead. A 11-0 run by NGC cut the TNU lead to nine (64-54) with 8:25 to go. Christian Gibson hit a three-pointer to push the TNU advantage to 12 again. NGC cut the TNU lead to four points (67-63) with a 9-0 run. With 4:36 remaining Trevecca led 71-65, but North Georgia tied the game at 74 with 1:16 to go and then took the lead (76-74) with :58 on the clock. Trevecca tied the game at 79 with :45 on the clock, but North Georgia scored the final five points of the game to seal the victory.

K.C. Van Atta led Trevecca with 24 points and also was tops for TNU with five rebounds and four blocks. Van Atta was 6-13 from three-point range. Abby Lawson (14) and Paige McFarlin (12) also reached double-figure scoring. Gibson led Trevecca with six assists. Lawson also had five. Van Atta had a team high four blocks while Lawson was tops with four steals.

Trevecca shot 53% (16-30) from the field in the first half, but hit just 38% (10-26) from the field in the second half. For the game Trevecca shot 46% (26-56) from the field, 36% (10-28) from three point range, and 74% (17-23) from the foul line. The Saints topped the Trojans 42-28 on the boards.

Trevecca will host NAIA No. RV Georgetown College (4-2) on Tuesday, December 1 at 6 p.m.
