NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca (7-1) men's basketball team defeated #RV Southern Nazarene (5-2) 71-70 at the Fall Nazarene Classic @ Trevecca.
Trevecca
opened the game with an 11-4 run over the first 6:49 of the game. The
Crimson Storm cut the Trojan lead to just one point (21-20) with 6:47
remaining in the first half. The Trojans answered with a 11-0 run and
led 32-20 lead with 4:37 to go. SNU out scored TNU 9-3 over the rest of
the half to cut the Trojans advantage to six (35-29) at the half.
Trevecca
started second half like they did the first half, with an 11-4 run. At
the end of the run the Trojans held a 13-point (46-33) lead with 17:36
remaining on the game clock. With 8:39 remaining Trevecca held a
nine-point (61-52) lead. Over the next five minutes the Crimson Storm
out scored the Trojans 10-1 and tied the game at 62. Trevecca regained
the lead, but never held more than a four-point advantage again and SNU
actually tied the game again at 70 with 1:30 on the clock. Each team
had opportunities to take the lead, but it wasn't until seven seconds
remained that Trevecca was able to get the games final point. Freshmen
post player J.P. Nyadaro hit the second of two free throws to give the
Trojans the final margin. SNU's final shot was blocked and the Trojans
won 71-70.

Nyadaro led Trevecca with 17 points and added four rebounds, a block
and a steal. Matthew Elliott (15) and Jeremy Dixon (13) also scored in
double figures. Dixon led Treveca with six rebounds and three steals.
Dixon also had a block. Dixon hit 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and
Elliott was 5-for-6 from long distance. Marquise Rudolph led TNU with
four assists and added seven points. Keith Morris had three blocks.
Trevecca
shot 46% (22-48) from the field, 67% (10-15) from three-point range,
and 58% (17-29) from the foul line. SNU had a 51-27 edge in rebounding.
Trevecca
will visit a pair of Florida schools next weekend. Trevecca will face
Webber International (3-1) on Friday, December 4th at 4:30 p.m. On
Saturday, December 5th at 5 p.m. Trevecca will face Warner University
(3-1). Both teams are NAIA schools that play in the Sun Conference.
