NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Former Siegel High School (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) catcher Monica West, who played at Shorter College the past two seasons, has transferred to Trevecca Nazarene University.

Last season, West was part of the NAIA nationally ranked #16 Shorter College Hawks who finished 44-16. In her freshman season at Shorter College West was named to the SSAC All-Freshman Team with a batting average of .261. West compiled six doubles, one triple, three homeruns, and 22 runs batted in her freshman year.

At Siegel High School West was a two-time All-Middle Tennessee performer. In her senior year West had 34 hits, 10 doubles, one triple, and three homeruns. Siegel High School was the 7-AAA District Runner-Up, Region 4-AAA Champions, Sectional Champions, and finished fourth at the TSSAA State Championships. Monica graduated with a 4.0 GPA.

Coach Tyree stated the following about West, "We are thrilled to have Monica come back to Middle Tennessee and be closer to home to give us some depth behind the plate and push for playing time in the field. She has an excellent bat with some pop which will be a welcome addition to our lineup."
