MCKENZIE, Tenn. - No. 17 Trevecca (10-4, 3-0) placed four players in double figures and overcame a 41-34 halftime deficit to post an impressive 76-65 victory Thursday night at No. 19 Bethel University (9-6, 0-2).

Trevecca now holds a 13-2 advantage in the series with Bethel and have won the last 13 meetings. Bethel defeated Trevecca twice in the 1996-1997 season, the season Trevecca revived its women's basketball program.

Abby Lawson paced the attack with 22 points, making 10 of 13 shots from the field, and also led the Trojans with six rebounds. Paige McFarlin made 7 of 9 shots on the way to 15 points, and also added five rebounds.  K.C. Van Atta and Christian Gibson scored 14 points apiece, as the starters accounted for all but eight of the Trojan points.

The Trojans fell behind early and trailed the entire first half, with Paige McFarlin's 17-foot jumper cutting the Bethel lead to seven at the break. Trevecca then proceeded to score the first seven points of the second half to tie the game at 41, but Bethel regained the lead and maintained that lead until the Trojans were able to tie the game on a 3-point play by Paige McFarlin with 8:04 left.

However, Bethel took the lead back and stayed in front until Chelsey Taylor's 3-pointer tied the game for the final time with 4:46 left.  Christian Gibson's 3-point play with 4:10 to play gave the Trojans their first lead of the game, and they never looked back, with Gibson hitting 5 of 6 free throws down the stretch to put the game away. Trevecca ended the game with a 17-2 run.

For the game, Trevecca shot 48% from the field (27-56), including 5-17 from 3-point range, and made 17 of 21 free throws. The Trojans were outrebounded 36-24, but forced 19 Wildcat turnovers to help get the big win on the road.

The Trojans return to action Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. as they play host to Cumberland University at Moore Gym.
