NASHVILLE, Tenn. - No. 11 Trevecca (12-5, 4-1 TSAC) fell 82-61 to Freed-Hardeman (9-7, 2-1 TSAC) on Monday at Moore Gym.
Freed-Hardeman
started fast with a 7-3 advantage and later used a 13-2 run to take a
25-12 lead with 9:20 to go in the first half. Trevecca cut the Freed
lead to just seven points (27-20), but the Lions used a 15-6 run to
push the lead to 16. Trevecca cut six points off the Freed lead by the
halftime break. The Lions led 44-34.
The
Lions continued to build on their lead most of the second half. The
Trojans cut the lead to just nine (50-41) with 14:40 to go in the game.
Trevecca had a couple of chances to cut the lead even further, but the
Lions held and then pulled away with a 7-0 run. With a 1:28 to go the
Lions led by 24 (78-54), but Trevecca cut into the lead before falling
81-62.
Ken
Bingham led Freed-Hardeman with 21 points and had seven rebounds. The
Lions shot 41% (11-27) from 3-point range while the Trojans hit just
3-17 (17%) from beyond the arch. Trevecca, playing its third game in
five days - including a two overtime game, were leading the nation in
3-point percentage (45%) and second in 3-point field goal defense (26%)
on the year.
Keith
Morris (17), Camden Jordan (12), and Michael France (10) all scored in
double figures for Trevecca. Jeremy Dixon just missed a double-double
with nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Dixon also had two blocks
and three steals. JP Nydaro also had eight rebounds and two blocks.
Elija Brice started the game and had a team-high three blocks.
Trevecca shot 19-54 (35%) from the field and were 21-32 (65%) from the foul line.
Trevecca will travel to Batesville, Ark. to face Lyon College (5-11, 1-3 TSAC) on Thursday at 8 p.m.
