NASHVILLE,
Tenn. - Trevecca women's soccer coach Brett Armstrong has signed Aubrey Black,
a five-foot-seven defender from Independence High School in Franklin, Tenn.
At
Independence she is coached by former Trojan assistant David Cordero. Her club
coach is Rico Laise.
"We're
very excited about Aubrey. She is a strong, relentless player who works
extremely hard and will win balls out of the back," commented Coach Armstrong. "She's
good in the air and an excellent communicator and leader. She understands TNU,
our mission, and what we're all about and we're confident she'll be another
great addition to our TNU family."
The
Captain was the team Defensive MVP for independence and Captain on her club
team. The Honors Student participated in Habitat for Humanity and was a part of
the TSSAA Urban Soccer Volunteer
"My
choice to earn my education and play soccer at Trevecca was an easy choice as I
followed my head and my heart," said Black. "During my college search I
continued to gather information which showed me not only what TNU had to offer
me but that they truly felt I could make a contribution too. I have looked
forward to playing soccer in college for a long time. After playing with the
team and much conversation with Coach Armstrong I knew I wanted to be part of
their community. I also wanted to continue to serve and look forward to having
those opportunities with the extensive Trevecca community. Trevecca has a rich
heritage for excellence in education and I am happy that I will be able to
pursue my dreams and be in Nashville near my family."
