NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca women's golf coach Michael Johnson has added Sarah Jo Dixon of Cookeville High School to his signing class for the Fall of 2010.

Dixon qualified for the 2009 Class AAA state golf tournament, and finished second in the Putnam County Junior Championship 14-17 girls division in both 2008 and 2009.

In addition, she finished second in the Upper Cumberland Junior Championship in 2008.

"She's worked hard, and she's been driven in wanting to play college golf," said Lady Cavaliers golf coach Kevin Bray. "She's got the opportunity, and I'm very happy for her.

Dixon is looking forward to becoming a part of the Trevecca community. "The girls I met on the golf team were genuine and friendly and made me feel very welcome and comfortable. I think I will fit in good there, or at least I'm gonna try."

Johnson feels like Dixon's best golf is still ahead of her. "I just felt like there was a lot of upside to Sarah Jo's game. She's shot some good high school scores, but I think there's a whole lot more there even beyond what she's done to this point. I've seen the desire to improve and to continue to work on the game."

Dixon plans to major in special education at TNU.
