LEBANON, Tenn.  The #12 Trevecca Trojans (18-6, 10-2 TranSouth) defeated Cumberland University (8-13, 2-9 TranSouth) 56-49 Saturday afternoon in Lebanon. The win completed a season sweep for the Trojans, who now lead the all-time series 19-10.

The Trojans took a 6-4 lead with 15:58 to play in the first half and never looked back in
route to the win. A 7-0 run midway through the first half pushed the lead to 20-11 and the Trojans maintained the margin the rest of the way to take a 32-22 lead to the halftime locker room.

CU cut the Trojan lead to four points (37-33) with 12:02 to play, but committed a pair of turnovers, missed a short jumper and a 3-pointer, all in the final five minutes of the game to miss an opportunity at the upset. Trevecca's Christian Gibson also tracked down a long rebound after a missed 3-pointer by Abby Lawson with 1:04 to play. Gibson was fouled and knocked down the two free throws to push the Trojans lead to 54-47 and just about put the game away.

K.C. Van Atta led all scorers with 25 points, and was the only Trevecca player in double
figures. London Elie added nine points off the bench, and Abby Lawson played a solid
all-around floor game with seven points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

For the game, the Trojans shot only 36% (20-56) from the field, including just 4-21 (19%)
from 3-point range, but made 12 of their 16 free throws (75%). Cumberland made 21 of 52 from the field (40%), but missed all eight of their 3-point attempts and made only 7-13 free throws (54%).

Trevecca returns home to host Lyon (16-9, 6-6 TranSouth) Monday night at 6 p.m.
