NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca (0-3), receiving votes for the preseason NAIA Baseball Top 25, was swept in a doubleheader by #4 Southern Tech (6-0) 2-0, 4-2 Saturday afternoon at Jackson Field.

The Trojans got an outstanding pitching performance in the opener from junior lefthander Kyle Pfirrman, who struck out 12 Hornets in 5 2/3 innings, while giving up only six hits and one earned run. Unfortunately, the Trojan bats were silenced by SPSU senior righthander Blake Mainor (2-0), who pitched a seven-inning complete game, allowing just one hit and no runs, while striking out three and walking four.

The Hornets scored single runs in the 4th and 6th innings, and Mainor made them stand up, giving up a lone single to Trojans shortstop Greg Casebier in the 3rd inning. Pfirrman (0-1), the hard luck loser, took the loss.

In the second game, the Trojans took a 2-1 lead into the 7th inning, but the Hornets scored three runs on two hits and three walks for the come-from-behind win. The Trojans took the lead in the 1st inning when Zach Sutton doubled home Matt Tidwell, who had reached on a walk.

The Hornets tied the game in the 4th inning on an RBI single by Justin Ray, but the Trojans answered right back in the bottom of the inning to re-take the lead on Chase Birdwell's RBI groundout that brought home Edwin Borbon.

Jerry Young (0-1) took the loss for the Trojans, while Greg Hendrix (2-0) got the win for the Hornets.

The Trojans will host Indiana-Southeast (0-0) Tuesday at 2pm at Jackson Field.
