NASHVILLE, Tenn. No. 13 Trevecca (18-7, 10-3 TranSouth) lost to #RV Lyon (17-9, 7-6 TranSouth) 65-56 on Monday. The game was moved up two hours for weather concerns.
Trevecca jumped out 6-2 and looked to be on a roll. The Pipers had a different idea as they used a 21-3 run to take a 23-9 lead with 8:40 remaining in the half. Trevecca answered with a 18-6 run to cut the lead to just two points (29-27) with 1:00 left in the first half. The Pipers scored the final four points of the half and led 33-27 at the break.
With 14:39 remaining the Pipers held a 41-33 lead. Trevecca looked to seize control of the game with a 17-5 run that put the Trojans up by four (50-46) with 7:01 remaining. The Trojan gained a two-point (54-52) with 3:51 to go, but the Pipers surged one final time to earn the win. Lyon outscored Trevecca 13-2 over the final 3:51 for the upset road win.
K.C. Van Atta scored 12 points while Abby Lawson added 10 for Trevecca. London Elie scored nine points and had a team-high eight rebounds and three blocks. Christian Gibson led the team with six assists. The team was outrebounded 44-29 and Lyon used 11 offensive boards to gain a 10-5 advantage in second chance points. Trevecca shot just 34% (18-53) from the field, .071% (1-14) from 3-point range, and 65% (19-29) from the foul line.
Lyon was led by K.K. Hodges with 19 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists.
Trevecca will visit No. 15 Freed-Hardeman (20-5, 8-4 TranSouth) on Thursday at 6 p.m.
