NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca (3-5), receiving votes for the preseason NAIA Baseball Top 25, edged #8 Campbellsville University (2-2) 3-2 in 11 innings Tuesday afternoon at Jackson Field. Trevecca has moved its game, scheduled for Wednesday (Feb. 24), with St. Catherines to next Thursday (March 4) at 2 p.m.

Trey Morrison singled home Mark Hewitt in the bottom of the 11th with the winning run, as the Trojans won for the third time in their last four games.

Junior right-hander Caleb Longshore turned in a solid performance on the mound, going eight innings, giving up eight hits, two runs (one earned), while striking out six and walking only one batter. Kyle Pfirrman (1-1) picked up the win with two innings of work. Spencer Frantz (0-1) took the loss for the Tigers.

After Campbellsville took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth  inning on a sacrifice fly and a balk, the Trojans tied the score in the bottom of the seventh  inning on a 2-run home run by shortstop Brad Gooch, his first of the season. That set up the 11th inning heroics by Morrison.  The inning started out innocently enough, with back-to-back groundouts, but then Hewitt, Zack Sutton, and Morrison strung together three consecutive singles with two outs for the Trojan victory.

Trevecca returns to the diamond Friday when they host Bethel (Ind.) for a pair of games at Noon. The teams will play a single game at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
