JAMUL, Calif. - The Trevecca men's golf team finished the first two rounds of the PLNU/Smee Builders Invitational at Steele Canyon Golf Course 10th on Monday. There are 13 teams and 68 golfers competing. The 6834 yard course is playing to a par of 71.
The Trojans posted a first round 321 and then carded a 310 in the afternoon round for a 631 total.
TNU's Skip Jones carded a 155 and is in 23rd after 36 holes. Jones opened with a 79 and then recorded a 76 in the afternoon's second round.
The other Trojan scorers are Joey Bradley who is tied for 35th (82-76) at 158. David Saldana (79-80) and Grant Moffett (81-78) are tied for 40th at 159 and William Potts finished at (88-89) 177.
The host Sea Lions hold a five stroke lead with a first round 296 and then carded 300 in the afternoon round for a 596 total. That score has Loma in front of second place Wayland Baptist (601) with CSU San Marcos (604), Holy Names (606) and Victoria (609) rounding out the top-five.
PLNU's Ryan Ellerbrock leads after 36 holes. Ellerbrock opened with a 73 and then entered the clubhouse with a second-round 72. His 145 is one stroke ahead of Michael Loppnow of Wayland Baptist and Jordan Andrews of The Masters (146).
The other Sea Lion scorers are Joel Salmond is tied for ninth (74-75--149). Zane Keith is tied for 13th (76-75--151) along with teammate Oscar Casillas (73-78--151). Zach Ponder is in a tie for 35th after carding a 151 (73-78).
The three-round tournament concludes with 18 holes that begins Tuesday morning.
