NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca Lady Trojan softball team (12-0) defeated former conference for Lambuth University (3-10) 4-2 and 19-5 to remain undefeated on the year.

On the season, Trevecca has hit 30 home runs in their 12 games. More than double the 12 home runs the team hit all of last year.

In game one, Trevecca scored first with a home run in the bottom of the third off the bat of Anais Puertas, but Lambuth put two on the board in the top of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead. Trevecca answered with a decisive three runs in the bottom of the inning for a 4-2 lead. Melinda Patterson tripled to the start the inning and scored on a two-out home run from Kelsey Lantrip. Megan Hemmingsen followed with a solo home run to complete the scoring.

Riley Mashburn (6-0) pitched a complete game allowing just two runs on six hits and a walk. The sophomore struck out 11 in seven innings of work in the circle. Lantrip was 1-2 with a run scored, two stolen bases, two walks, and two RBI. Puertas was 2-4 with a run scored, a home run, and an RBI. Melinda Patterson was 1-2 with a triple, run scored, and a stolen base. Each team had six hits and Trevecca had three errors.

In game two Lauren Baker (6-0) pitched all five inning striking out five while allowing five runs - four of the earned, six hits and a walk. Trevecca had 17 hits and an error, Lambuth had six hits and three errors.

Trevecca scored two in the first, five in the second, seven in the third, and five in the fourth. Lambuth scored the games first run in the first inning and added a run in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Trevecca's Hemmingsen hit a one-out single and scored on a Puertas home run in the first inning. In the second Baker drew a two-out walk. Lantrip doubled with two out and baker and Lantrip scored on a Megan Hemmingsen double. Hemmingsen scored on a Puertas single. West drove in Puertas with a two-run home run.

In the third inning the first five Trojans reached base on a single or walk. Karli Rush and Patterson singled and a Baker walk loaded the bases. Brooke Brennan delivered an RBI single. Lantrip walked to drive in Patterson. Hemmingsen flied out, but Baker scored on a wild throw. Puertas walked and an out later, Breanna Zeis hit a grand slam. In the inning Trevecca scored seven times on six hits.

In the fourth Lantrip reached on an error and Hemmingsen singled. Puertas hit her third home run of the night, a three-run bomb. Monica West followed with her second home run of the game and a batter later Zeis hit a solo home run.

In addition to the six home runs Trevecca hitters produced a total of eight extra base hits. Hemmingsen and Lantrip each hit a double.  

Hemmingsen was 3-4 with three runs scored, a double, and two RBI. Puertas was 3-3 with four runs scored, a walk, two home runs, and six RBI. Monica West was 2-4 with two home runs, two runs scored, and three RBI. Breanna Zeis was 3-4 with two runs scored, two home runs, a grand slam, and five RBI.
 
Trevecca will visit NCAA D1 Murray State (2-9) on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
