DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Trevecca (11-6), receiving votes for the preseason NAIA Baseball Top 25, saw their 9-game winning streak come to an end with a 2-1 loss at No. 7 Embry-Riddle (18-5) on Thursday.
Each team score a run in the second inning and then ERAU pushed across an unearned run in the fifth for the win.
Trevecca was held to just three hits by ERAU's Austin Quinn (5-0) who pitched a complete game and only allowed one unearned run. Quinn struck out five Trojans and walked two. Trevecca's Tim Dunn (3-2) pitched eight innings and allowed two runs - one earned. Dunn struck out eight batters and walked four while allowing four hits.
Chase Birdwell was 1-2 wtih an RBI. He drove in Chris Hale who was 0-2, but reached on an error. Luke Fennell was 1-3 with a double, the only extra base hit in the game.
Trevecca had three hits and one error. ERAU had four hits and three errors.
On Friday Trevecca will play Embry-Riddle in a double header starting at 1 p.m. and complete the series on saturday the 13th at 11 a.m.
The next home game will be on St. Patricks Day (Wednesday, March 17) when No. 11 Tennessee Wesleyan (14-3) at 2 p.m.
