JACKSON, Tenn. - The Trevecca Lady Trojan (22-11) basketball team's season came to an end Friday, as the Trojans lost to Campbellsville (31-2) in the second round of the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Tournament at Oman Arena in Jackson.
The Trojans led by as many as six in the first half, at 20-14, before the Lady Tigers went on a 13-2 run to take a 27-22 lead late in the first half. The Trojans surged toward halftime, tying the game 31-31 before Campbellsville's MacKenzie Lee nailed a 25-footer to send the Tigers to the locker room on top 34-31.
An early second-half Campbellsville run pushed the lead to seven, before a 6-0 run pulled the Trojans within one; but Trevecca would get no closer. A 17-4 Campbellsville run over the next 9:02 blew the game open, and the Tigers cruised to the victory from there.
Shenita Gleaves led the Trojans with 11 points off the bench, while Abby Lawson added 10 points in her final game in a Trojan uniform. All-American Whitney Ballinger led the Tigers with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and nine blocked shots.
