SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Trevecca women's golf team completed first round play Monday in the Savannah College of Arts and Design Spring Invitational. SCAD is hosting the event at the 5,809-yard, par 71 Wilmington Island Club in Savannah, Ga. There are 14 teams and 82 golfers participating.

Trevecca finished day one 12th out of 14 teams, with a total team score of 355 for its top four golfers. USC-Beaufort leads after the first day of competition with a team score of 317, while the hosts are one shot back at 318.

Ashley Birdwell was the top Trojan golfer of the day, finishing tied for 35th individually with an 85. SCAD's Nikki Stewart shot a 74 for the top individual score of the day. The other Trojan golfers Monday were Betsy Beaver, who tied for 49th with an 88, Whitney Phillips and Maddie Privott, who each shot 91, and Alyssa Moe with a 93.

The tournament concludes with Round 2 on Tuesday, beginning at 7 a.m.You can follow the scores live as the teams finish at http://www.scadathletics.com/custompages/wgolf/xlive.htm. Scores should begin posting at about 11:30-Noon Nashville time.

Trevecca is set to play in the TranSouth Conference Tournament April 12-13 at Pickwick Landing State Park in Savannah, Tenn.
