NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca volleyball coach Jayme Crowley has announced the signing of Rebecca Shafer of Whittier Christian High School in Brea, Calif.
"Rebecca is a tremendous asset to our Trevecca volleyball family and a great mission fit for the university," said Coach Crowley. "She will be an impact player both on and off the court. She values the team and its family atmosphere. Her work ethic in both the classroom and on the court are impeccable."
"Rebecca possesses tremendous athleticism. She is an amazing jumper who can already touch 9'11". She has a variety of shots and her greatest asset is in the area of blocking. She is self motivated, a dedicated Christian and a team player with a positive and contagious spirit. We expect her to make an immediate difference the minute she walks onto campus. She has a heart of a champion."
Shafer led her high school team to the 2009 CIF championship and was named Second Team All League and First Team All Conference.
The 6-foot middle blocker was named the MVP of her team for 2007 and also earned the Coaches Award for Excellence.
