Luis Del Rio begins his first season assisting the Trevecca volleyball program.

In the spring of 2009 he completed his fourth season on the Trevecca softball staff, as a volunteer assistant coach. He was on staff during the program's three consecutive trips to the NAIA National Championships.

Del Rio, a 1969 graduate of Belmont College, brings more than 30 years of work experience with female athletes at both the high school and college ranks.

Del Rio served seven years as the top assistant for the Trojan women's basketball team. During his tenure as assistant, the basketball team went to the national tournament on six consecutive years and reached the sweet sixteen in 2000 and the elite eight in 2005.

Coach Del Rio and his wife, Mary Lou, have donated many hours to the Trevecca athletic department and community, contributions that have won them respect and appreciation. With the softball program, he oversaw the Champions of Character Program, assisted in game day operations, and served in many other capacities.
