        <title>[Baseball] Beat Webber for 11th Win in Last 12 Games</title>

        <description>&lt;div style=&quot;text-align: left;&quot;&gt;BABSON PARK, Fla. - Trevecca (10-5), receiving votes for the preseason NAIA Baseball Top 25, started their 2010 Spring Break winning their 11th game in the last 12 outings. Trevecca defeated Webber International (12-8) 9-6.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Each team scored a run in the first inning, but Trevecca jumped out to a 5-1 lead with two runs in the second and third innings. Webber cut the Trojan lead to just one run (5-4) with three in their half of the fourth inning. Trevecca scored a run in the fifth, but WIU scored two in bottom of the fifth for a 6-6 tie. Trevecca scored the games final three runs in the seventh for a 9-6 win.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Codi Webb (1-0) pitched the fifth and sixth innings to pick up the win. Jerry Young picked up the save (1), allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out three over the final three innings. Blake Payton started the game and pitched four innings. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Edwin Borbon was 4-6 wtih three RBI, two runs scored, a double, and a two stolen bases. Chris Hale was 3-3 with three runs scored and a walk. Chase Birdwell was 3-4 with a run scored, and two RBI. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Trevecca had 16 hits and committed four errors while WIU had 13 hits and two errors. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;TNU will play the first of four games with No. 7 Embry-Riddle (16-5) at 4 p.m. on Thursday. On Friday Trevecca will play Embry-Riddle in a double header starting at 4 p.m. and complete the series on saturday the 13th at 11 a.m. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The next home game will be on Tuesday, March 17 when No. 11 Tennessee Wesleyan (14-3) at 2 p.m.&amp;nbsp;										&lt;/div&gt;</description>

University has been named the TranSouth Athletic Conference baseball Player of the Week for the week ending March 7, 2010.&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;Reynolds, a 6-foot-1 junior third baseman from Santa Maria, Calif., helped the Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene to a 4-0 week. Reynolds hit .615 with eight hits in 13 at bats. He totaled five runs, two doubles, two triples and 10 RBI on the week. Reynolds also added two walks and was 1-for-1 in stolen bases, while slugging 1.077. He recorded at least two hits and on run in all four games. Trevecca Nazarene (10-5) is receiving votes in the NAIA preseason rankings.&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;</description>

        <description>PULASKI, Tenn. - Anais Puertas of Trevecca Nazarene University has been selected the TranSouth Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for the week ending March 7, 2010.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Puertas, a 5-foot-8 junior, outfielder from Estado Carabobo, Venezuela helped the Trojans to a 4-0 week with two wins over Bethel University and two wins over Covenant College. She had six extra base hits including three home runs and three doubles.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Puertas recorded six RBI and had eight runs scored. Her average for the week was . 533 with a slugging percentage of 1.333. Trevecca is 10-0 this season.&lt;br /&gt;</description>

        <title>[Softball] 12-0 with Nine Home Run Effort</title>

        <description>NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca Lady Trojan softball team (12-0) defeated former conference for Lambuth University (3-10) 4-2 and 19-5 to remain undefeated on the year.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On the season, Trevecca has hit 30 home runs in their 12 games. More than double the 12 home runs the team hit all of last year.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In game one, Trevecca scored first with a home run in the bottom of the third off the bat of Anais Puertas, but Lambuth put two on the board in the top of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead. Trevecca answered with a decisive three runs in the bottom of the inning for a 4-2 lead. Melinda Patterson tripled to the start the inning and scored on a two-out home run from Kelsey Lantrip. Megan Hemmingsen followed with a solo home run to complete the scoring.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Riley Mashburn (6-0) pitched a complete game allowing just two runs on six hits and a walk. The sophomore struck out 11 in seven innings of work in the circle. Lantrip was 1-2 with a run scored, two stolen bases, two walks, and two RBI. Trevecca had 17 hits and an error, Lambuth had six hits and three errors.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Trevecca scored two in the first, five in the second, seven in the third, and five in the fourth. Lambuth scored the games first run in the first inning and added a run in the fourth and three in the fifth.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Trevecca's Hemmingsen hit a one-out single and scored on a Puertas home run in the first inning. In the second Baker drew a two-out walk. Lantrip doubled with two out and baker and Lantrip scored on a Megan Hemmingsen double. Hemmingsen scored on a Puertas single. West drove in Puertas with a two-run home run.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In the third inning the first five Trojans reached base on a single or walk. Karli Rush and Patterson singled and a Baker walk loaded the bases. Brooke Brennan delivered an RBI single. Lantrip walked to drive in Patterson. Hemmingsen flied out, but Baker scored on a wild throw. Puertas walked and an out later, Breanna Zeis hit a grand slam. In the inning Trevecca scored seven times on six hits.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In the fourth Lantrip reached on an error and Hemmingsen singled. Puertas hit her third home run of the night, a three-run bomb. Monica West followed with her second home run of the game and a batter later Zeis hit a solo home run.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In addition to the six home runs Trevecca hitters produced a total of eight extra base hits. Hemmingsen and Lantrip each hit a double. &amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hemmingsen was 3-4 with three runs scored, a double, and two RBI. Puertas was 3-3 with four runs scored, a walk, two home runs, and six RBI. Monica West was 2-4 with two home runs, two runs scored, and three RBI.         <description>NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca (10-5), receiving votes for the preseason NAIA Baseball Top 25, completed a sweep of Pikeville College (1-9) with two wins on Saturday. Trevecca won the first game 11-1 and 14-4 in the second. The Trojans have won ten of their last eleven games.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In game one the Trojans scored two runs in the first inning and another in the second inning. Pikeville scored a run in the top of the third and the Trojans sealed the win with three in their half of the third inning. The Trojans scored two more in the fourth and three in the sixth to force the 10-run rule into effect with an 11-1 decision. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kyle Pfirrman (2-1) picked up the win with five innings of work. Pfirrman allowed two hits, a run, and a walk while striking out eight. Codi Webb pitched a&amp;nbsp; perfect inning to complete the victory. TNU had 13 hits and no errors while Pikeville had just two hits and had two errors. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Brad Gooch was 2-4 with four runs scored, a walk, a double, and two stolen bases. Chad Reynolds was 2-4 with a run scored, four RBI, and two doubles. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In game two Trevecca struck early again with four runs in the first. Pikeville scored a run in the top of the second, but Trevecca extended the lead to 6-1 with two runs in the third. The Tigers tallied two runs in the fourth for a 6-3 TNU lead. Trevecca opened the flood gates with six runs in the fourth. Pikeville added a run in the fifth, but Trevecca forced the 10-run rule in their half of the fifth with two runs. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Michael Son (2-0) earned the win on the mound with four innings of work. Son allowed three hits, two earned runs, and two walks while striking out three Tigers. Jeff Hughes pitched the fifth allowing three hits and a run. Trevecca had 11 hits and two errors while Pikeville had six hits and four errors.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Brad Gooch had another productive game going 1-3 with a walk, two runs scored, two RBI, a double, and a stolen base. Edwin Borbon was 2-2 with two runs, an RBI, a double, a triple, and two stolen bases. Trey Morrison was 2-3 with three runs scored, three RBI, and a walk. Chad Reynolds was 2-3 with a run scored, and two RBI. Bret Grizzard was 1-3 with a triple and three RBI. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Trevecca will spend Spring Break in Florida. TNU faces Webber International (12-7) on Wednesday at 6 p.m. On Thursday, March 11 Trevecca will play the first of four games with No. 7 Embry-Riddle (16-5) at 5 p.m. On Friday Trevecca will play Embry-Riddle in a double header starting at 4 p.m. and complete the series on saturday the 13 at Noon. Riley Mashburn and Lauren Baker continued their early-season dominance in the circle, each gaining their fifth win of the young season.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Trojans banged out 13 hits in the opener, with Lantrip, Puertas, Zeis and Baker getting two hits apiece.&amp;nbsp; Lantrip, Puertas, West and Zeis each smashed home runs, as the Trojans scored five runs in the 7th inning to break open a close game. Riley Mashburn (5-0) went the distance, giving up two earned runs on seven hits and striking out nine, while walking just two batters. &amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In game two, the Trojan offense had 14 hits to support a strong pitching performance by Lauren Baker.&amp;nbsp; Melinda Patterson went 3-3, while Lantrip, West, and Baker added two hits apiece.         <description>JACKSON, Tenn. - No. 19 Trevecca (21-10) visited No. 1 Union (31-1) in the Semifinal round of the TranSouth Tournament on Friday night.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Christian Gibson (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) eclipsed the 1000 career scoring mark tonight. Gibson, a senior point guard, became the third Trojan on this year's team he 11th all-time to reach the scoring milestone.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Union opened the game with a 15-5 run, and later led 25-12 wi th 11:58 to go in the half. Union held the double figure lead at halftime 43-32.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Trevecca used a 12-0 run to start the second half and pulled ahead (44-43)for the first time in the game. The game remained close and was tied at 52 when Rachel Raby hit a field goal at the 11:54 mark. The Trojans scored just one point over the next four minutes of play and the Bulldogs pushed ahead 61-53. The Trojans held it close until the Bulldogs pulled away over the last two minutes for the 86-69 win.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Christian Gibson and Union's Jessica Graves Kaitlin Dudley all scored a game-high 22 points. London Elie (11) and Rachel Raby (10), Trevecca's freshmen post players, both scored in double figures as well. Gibson also had a game-high seven rebounds and four steals. The senior also added three assists and a block while hitting 8-11 from the field, 2-5 from 3-point range, and all four free throws. Abby Lawson had a team-high six assists.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Trevecca shot 24-50 (48%) from the field, 5-15 (33%) from 3-point range, and 16-25 (64%) from the free throw line. Union led the rebounding battle 33-29. Trevecca had the edge in bench scoring 23-5.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Union, the defending NAIA and TranSouth Champions, will host the Championship game on Monday at Fred Delay Gym. Trevecca will await their bid and seeding in the NAIA Women's Basketball Division 1 National Championships. The tournament begins March 17 in Jackson, Tenn. at Oman Arena.         <description>NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca (21-10), the TranSouth Tournament #4 seed fell to fifth-seeded Cumberland University (12-16) 90-83 in the TSAC Quarterfinal game.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The loss ends the Trojans season and the career of senior Matthew Elliott. Elliott left it on the floor, scoring a career and game-high 31 points. He scored 20 of those in the first half, which fueld the Trojans 44-41 lead at the break.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The visiting Bulldogs took a 16-11 lead, but the Trojans used a 16-3 run to take a 27-19 lead at the 10:22 mark. The Trojans led until the Bulldogs used a 19-9 run to take a two point lead (41-39) :48 seconds remaining in the half. Trevecca's Matthew Elliott capped his first half scoring spree with a pair of free throws and then a 3-pointer to give Trevecca a 44-41 lead at the half.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Cumberland essentially decided the game with a 17-2 run to start the second half and led 58-46 with 16:28 remaining. Trevecca cut the 12-point CU lead to five points (62-57) with a 11-4 run. Cumberland led the remainder of the way, but the Trojans kept the visitors lead in single digits the rest of the way. The Trojans best chance for a turnaround came with 7:29 to go and Keith Morris scored two of his 19 points cutting the CU lead to a single digit at 67-66. With 5:30 remaining Elliott hit his fifth 3-pointer to cut the lead to three (72-69), but the Trojans would get no closer and Cumberland advanced with a 90-83 win.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In his final game as a Trojan, Matthew Elliott scored a career-high 31 points. He was 9-17 from the field and hit 5-10 from 3-point range. Keith Morris added 19 and Michael France tallied 10. JP Nydaro added a team-high seven rebounds. Marquise Rudolph led the team with seven assists. Brandon Springer scored 29 for the Bulldogs and Walter Simon had a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Elliott averaged 17.2 points on the season to lead the Trojans. He shot 46% (75-163) from 3-point range and had a team-high 126 assists. Elliott, who will be Trevecca's graduate assistant the next two years, finished with 1263 point - good enough for 17th on the all-time list. He also broke the school record for career 3-point percentage at 45.5%.
