Lady Trojan Golf Program Continues Upward Trend
With
an eye toward the future and an appreciative look back, TNU women's
golf coach Michael Johnson can see the "promise land." In this case,
the land of promise is a much hoped-for trip to the NAIA national
tournament in San Diego, California in May. In order to get there,
Coach Johnson and his ever-improving team must continue to navigate the
waters of some of the nation's best NAIA tournaments.
The current squad participating in tournament play consists of one junior, two sophomores, and a freshman.
Betsy Beaver has already made her mark on the program with her victory
in the 2007 TranSouth Tournament. Beaver added freshman of the year and
all-tournament honors to her trophy case at the TSAC Tournament.
Two transfers will make immediate contributions. Brooke Dillehay, a
junior who played her first two years at Bethel College (TN), and
Alyssa Moe, who played her freshman year at Paradise Valley Community
College, have adapted quickly to their new surroundings. Each has
outstanding skills and competitive fire to match.
Allison
Durham is a highly touted recruit from Summertown, Tenn. who was a
state-tournament qualifier last year. She was a three-sport star in
high school and has excellent potential for a wonderful college career.
