TranSouth Tournament: Dillehay 2nd (of 18), Team 1st (of 4) Region XI Tournament: Beaver 11th (of 39), Team 4th (of 7)
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - After winning three consecutive TranSouth titles, the Trojans were hit hard by graduation following the 2006-2007 season. Entering 2007-2008, the Trojans had only one returning player, Betsy Beaver, and only one upperclassman, Brooke Dillehay. That, however, would not stand in their way.
The season consisted of six regular season tournaments, the first of which came in September hosted by perennial NAIA Region-XI powerhouse Lindsey Wilson College. The Trojans placed fifth of the six teams in what was a strong tournament field. Beaver finished in a tie for eighth individually, tying a school-record score for an 18-hole round in the process, shooting a second-day 77.
Four weeks later the Trojans returned home, hosting a six-team tournament at the Hermitage President's Reserve course. Trevecca got off to a rocky start on day one but managed to hold it together for a fourth place team finish. Beaver again paced the Trojans individually, posting a 16th-place score of 176.
Next up for the Trojans was a trip to Rome, Georgia, to take part in the Stonebridge Invitational hosted by Berry College. The tournament featured a field of 18 teams, the largest tournament of the Trojans' season, and the last tournament of the fall portion of the schedule. Trevecca posted a 12th place finish as a team, but the tournament was the team's most consistent of the season; they posted totals of 349 on day one and 348 on day two. Beaver again was the Trojans' top individual finisher, posting a 24th place effort of 162.
The spring schedule began as the Trojans headed down to Savannah, Georgia, for the Savannah College of Art and Design Spring Invitational. The tourney again, boasted a strong field, featuring several ranked NAIA teams. Trevecca finished 13th in the tournament, with Beaver leading the way individually, finishing 31st of 81 golfers individually.
The last two tournaments of the season were hosted by TranSouth rivals Lyon College and Martin Methodist, respectively. The Trojans began to get things on track in Arkansas, finishing second in the Pipers' invitational, with Brooke Dillehay leading the way for the Trojans individually, finishing eighth of 44 golfers.
On March 31 The Trojans headed down to the RedHawk Invitational at Henry Horton State Park, looking for their first victory of the season. Day one was difficult for the Trojans in the rain and wind, but the Trojans hung in there, positioning themselves to make a run on the second day. Conditions did not improve much on day two, but freshman Allison Durham lead the charge, and the Trojans cut 20 strokes off their day-one total, coming from behind to win the Tourney and end the regular season on a high note. Durham finished second individually, finishing eight shots out of first with a 166.
The Trojans hosted the TranSouth Tournament April 14-15 at the Hermitage, this time on the General's Retreat Course. For the fourth season in a row, the Trojans claimed the TranSouth team title, and Brooke Dillehay finished second individually. Dillehay, Alyssa Moe, and Betsy Beaver earned all-conference honors.
The TranSouth title earned the Trojans a berth to the NAIA Region XI tournament in Bardstown, Kentucky. Again, conditions were difficult, and this time, they got the best of the Trojans. Trevecca finished fourth in the tournament, and Beaver finished 11th individually to pace the Trojans. The season ended at the regional tournament, but with all four Trojans returning the future looks bright for the Trojans.
