NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca women's soccer coach Brett Armstrong has signed Jessica Porter of Columbia, Tenn. to continue her soccer career with the Trojans.

The 5'3" Spring Hill High School (also produced current Trojan Heather Halstead) graduate was the team captain and an All-Region selection in both soccer and softball. The four-time Spring Hill defender of the year led SHHS to the TSSAA State Soccer Tournament on two different occasions.

Armstrong says Porter is a tenacious defender with great leadership skills, "Jessica will be a key addition to our defense in 2009. She is a tough competitor with great character who leads by example, but she's also not afraid to speak up when it's necessary. She'll provide great tenacity and leadership in the back for us, and I expect that she'll be a perfect fit here at TNU, both on and off the field."

Porter, the daughter of Johnny and Dawn Porter, played for former Trojan assistant coach David Cordero on the Tennessee Futbol Club (TNFC) and plans to enter the nursing program at TNU.

Porter joins Bekah Headrick (Aaron Christian), Hope Hackney (Wilson Central) and Taylor Beaulieu (Ezell-Harding) in this year's recruiting class.
