Nick Howell - 2012 Baseball Recruit
OF | 6-2 | Hendersonville, Tenn. | Beech HS/Columbia St. CCNASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca baseball Head Coach Mike Lord is very pleased to announce the addition of outfielder Nick Howell of Hendersonville, Tenn., to the program for the 2012 season. Howell played one year at Columbia State Community College following an outstanding prep career at Beech High School.
"Our staff and our entire team are very excited about Nick coming to Trevecca," says Coach Lord. "He is a highly skilled athlete that will make a huge impact at the top of our lineup."
The six-foot-two center fielder put up impressive numbers last season, batting .423, with 69 hits in 163 at-bats, and added six doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 35 RBI. Howell posted a .484 on-base percentage, stole 19 bases in 22 attempts, and scored 46 runs.
In high school, Howell earned first team all-county and second team all-state honors playing for Coach Greg Shelton and the Beech Buccaneers.
"Nick has all the tools," added Coach Lord. "He can really run, he has serious hand-eye coordination, and he can do a lot of things with the bat. He also has great instincts in the outfield and really covers a lot of ground. I really believe he will get the opportunity to play at the next level, but for now we are thrilled he will be roaming center field in a Trevecca jersey and we look forward to helping him develop as a person and as a player."
