Kristen Evans of Arlington, Tennessee has signed an Athletic Scholarship to play volleyball at Trevecca Nazarene University in the fall of 2008. Kristen is a senior at Arlington High School and is the daughter of David and Yvonne Evans.

Kristen has been coached by Lomay Richmond at Arlington High School and Jitka Okolicany and In-Sik Hwang of Memphis Metro Volleyball Club. She will be playing for the Trojan volleyball team at Trevecca and will be coached by Scott Jones. Kristen is a member of the first graduating class from Arlington High School and is the first student to sign an Athletic Scholarship for a university.

"Everyone is excited to have Kristen on the team" states Trevecca's Scott Jones. "She is a great fit for the university and will be a great addition to our program. She will be an outstanding representative for the university, the team, and the community."

 Kristen has numerous honors including Memphis "Best of Preps" All Metro Selection, All-District and All-Region Honors, and has been MVP of her school team three years in a row. "Kristen is very experienced and has excellent skills." Jones says. "At 6' 1", she will give us the height we need to compete at the national level." "She will make an immediate impact on our program."

Kristen also excels in the classroom. She carries a 3.7 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society and has been on the Honor Roll for several years. "Academics are very important to us," Jones states. "Our cumulative team GPA for the 2007-2008 year was 3.4, so Kristen will fit in well with our academic goals too."

Kristen will start pre-season training at Trevecca in August of 2008. "We look forward to her contributions with great enthusiasm!" says Jones. "We only have one senior this year, so next year is looking great! We have an excellent group of returning players and continue to sign great recruits like Kristen!"
