Trevecca women's soccer coach Brett Armstrong is pleased to announce the signing of Spring Hill High School's Drueann Weir for the 2008-2009 season.

"We're real excited about her," Armstrong said. "Soccer is getting better and better in the Spring Hill/Columbia area. I'm happy to be making connections and bring some of those girls to Trevecca."

Weir was a key player for a team that won consecutive District 11 and Region 6-A/AA championships. Spring Hill posted a 29-7-1 record over the past two seasons highlighted by the Lady Raiders' first state tournament appearance in 2006.

"I'm excited for [Weir and teammate Heather Halstead]," said Spring Hill coach Windy Sanders. "I'm really glad that they decided to go to Trevecca together."

Armstrong felt like Weir's winning pedigree will be important to his Trojan program.

Weir has been a solid player for Spring Hill after taking up soccer for the first time in high school.

"Drueann's a player whose best soccer is ahead of her," Armstrong said. "Everybody I talked to just raved about her. We're looking for big things out of her."

Armstrong also raved about Weir's leadership skills.

"Drueann is a high character person," Armstrong said. "She'll be a great addition to the program and she'll be a positive influence on our campus."
