NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca Trojan baseball coach Jonathan Burton has signed Greg Casebier for the 2009-2010 season.
Casebier, a 5'11" shortstop from Hopkinsville, Ky., joins the mix after playing at Jefferson State Community College. While at Jefferson State in 2008, Casebier hit .340 in 212 at bats, while slugging 20 doubles, belting four home runs, and driving in 50 runs.
"We are extremely excited to have Greg sign here at Trevecca," remarked coach Burton. "One of our main goals this recruiting year was to find a shortstop that can execute the short game and can also drive the ball in the gaps. Greg is that player. We are expecting him to be a mainstay in the middle of our order for two years."
Casebier joins BJ Boston (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.), Scott Lynn (College Grove, Tenn.), Luke Fennell (College Grove, Tenn.), Codi Webb (College Grove, Tenn.), and Michael Son (Vincennes University) for next year's squad.
The Trojans are coming of a season that saw them post a 37-16 mark, and win the regular season in the TranSouth Conference at 17-3 - their third TranSouth regular season crown in four years.
