NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca Trojan baseball coach Jonathan Burton has signed Blake Payton for the 2009-2010 season.



Payton, a 6'2" right handed pitcher from Sylacauga, Ala., joins the Trojans pitching staff after playing at Central Alabama Community College. While at Central Alabama in 2008, Payton notched a 3-1 record with a 3.56 ERA in 32.1 innings pitched.



"Blake will be a huge lift to us both as a starter and a reliever," remarked coach Burton. "He provides much needed depth in the bullpen and can also give us quality innings as a starter. Blake has really come into his own over the past year and we feel that his best days are well ahead of him."



Payton joins Greg Casebier (Hopkinsville, Ky.), BJ Boston (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.), Scott Lynn (College Grove, Tenn.), Luke Fennell (College Grove, Tenn.), Codi Webb (College Grove, Tenn.), and Michael Son (Vincennes University) for next year's squad.



The Trojans are coming of a season that saw them post a 37-16 mark, and win the regular season in the TranSouth Conference at 17-3 - their third TranSouth regular season crown in four years.
