NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca men's basketball coach Sam Harris is pleased to announce the signing Blake Carden of Independence (Thompsons Station, Tenn.) High School.

Carden, a 6'3" guard from Franklin, Tenn., comes to the Trojans after a successful high school career as a two sport athlete.

This season he averaged 17 points and four assists per game while being named All-Region, All-District, and the Hohn Maher Scholar-Athlete Award.

He earned All-District and All-Region honors as a junior, and was named to the all-tournament team at the Battle of the State Tournament.

As a sophomore, he earned the Eagles' Most Improved Player award, and he earned the Hustle award as a junior. As a freshman, he averaged 23 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists on the Independence freshman team, and he was the only freshman to make the varsity squad.

"Blake is a solid basketball player and person," said Coach Harris. "He will fit into what we are at Trevecca and with our basketball program. He has been coached well at Independence under Coach Darren Henrie, and his best days on the court are ahead of him here at Trevecca because of his effort and the coaching he has received."

His High School coach, Darren Henrie says, "Blake was a great leader and player for our program. I wish I had five Blake Cardens. I hope that playing under Coach Harris will be a great experience and that the team will have great success."

On the baseball diamond he performed well for the Eagles with a .320 battling average as a junior.

Carden will join 6'6" forward Antony Oduor, a red-shirt freshman from Nairobi, Kenya, in the 2009-2010 freshmen class for Coach Sam Harris.
