Cassidy Watkins - 2009 Volleyball Recruit

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca volleyball coach Jayme Crowley is pleased to announce the signing of Cassidy Watkins of Tucson, Ariz. for the 2009-2010 season.

Watkins, a 5'9" outside hitter, comes to Trevecca after prepping at Mountain View (Ariz.) Marana High School. There she was a three-year varsity player, and played six years of club volleyball. The future Trojan was first team all-region in 2007-2008, and in 2008-2009, and co-captain of the school's varsity team earning second team all-region honors.

Crowley knows she is getting a well trained recruit, "Cassidy trained the past three years with a highly regarded coach named Chris Gonzalez, who was an assistant coach at Long Beach State University and the University of Arizona. Coach Gonzalez describes Cassidy as a great teammate with a blue collar work ethic and a true winner! The TNU team will be able to build a great foundation for future success with Cassidy as part of the program."

"She brings a tremendous work ethic to the program as well as great court sense and solid ball control skills. Cassidy is a great court communicator and this sets her apart from the pack. She will fit into our program right away on and off the court with her respectful attitude, communication skills, and wonderful personality. Cassidy has the potential to play at least 3 positions and is going to be a solid leader for TNU as she grows and develops. We are very pleased to bring in another winner who has the necessary passion, hunger and desire it will take to lead us to the next level."

Watkins joins Maddie Burford and Teegan Hunziker in the first recruiting class for Trevecca coach Jayme Crowley.
