NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca baseball coach Jonathan Burton has added Hendersonville 's ( Tenn. ) Chad McDaniel to his 2009-2010 signing class.
 
McDaniel, three-year starter in the middle infield, had a career .302 batting average with 40 RBI's and 20 stolen bases. His fielding percentage was .940 over 313 chances. As a senior he hit .312 with 16 RBI's and nine stolen bases.
 
Coach Burton says is a player that may be an early contributor, "We feel that Chad is capable of maturing into a complete player for us in the near future. He has the work ethic and energy to really push some guys for playing time right out of the gate. Chad is the type of kid we need at Trevecca. He is a very hard working and self motivated student athlete that is ready to help his team be successful in any situation that may arise."

He is the recipient of the Old Timers Baseball Scholarship and was named twice to the Sumner County All-County team. McDaniel owns a 3.8 GPA and is in the Top 20% in his class. The 2008 Columbia State Memorial Day Tournament MVP also was selected to play for the East Tennessee team in the 2008 Blue/Gray Classic Showcase.

He joins two other former Hendersonville Commandoes to wear the Trojan baseball uniform - B.J. Jenkins and Dusty Johnson.

Andy Gilley, one of McDaniel's coaches at Hendersonville, says Trevecca is getting one of the best middle infielders in the area, "Chad McDaniel has been one of the best defensive middle infielders in Tennessee for the past two years. As a hitter he has improved over the past spring and summer and was a guy we could always count on for a clutch hit. He has been a tremendous leader for us at Hendersonville and we believe he'll bring that quality to Trevecca as well. Chad is a great example of the kind of players that Coach Burton is bringing to the Trevecca Baseball program and that is great player with solid character that make excellent teammates."
